quantum_cad_case_study_picture.jpgPort Talbot-based Quantum CAD is one of the region’s success stories, growing since its relocation to Wales in 2004 to become one of Europe’s leading specialists in the provision of instant and scalable PCB Design services and solutions.

Since it was founded in 1994, Quantum CAD has delivered specialist Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design services to many blue chip Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of the electronics industry, focusing on automotive, defense, aircraft, mobile phone, medical, and consumer electronics.

In 2004, Quantum CAD relocated to ECM2, the Welsh Assembly Government’s R&D facility in Margam, allowing the company to qualify for financial support from local bodies.

Steve Jones, Director at Quantum CAD, said:

“I was born and bred in Wales so it wasn’t a hard decision to relocate the business here. We were also fortunate enough to be eligible for a set up grant from Neath Port Talbot Council, as well as an AIG investment grant in our first year of business.

“Since our relocation the business has gone from strength to strength, and we’ve managed to weather the recent economic difficulties and even continued to expand the business in this challenging climate, which is obviously a great achievement.

“We’ve also forged strong relationships with other local businesses, mainly through networking opportunities, provided by organisations such as Swansea Bay Partnership. It’s always beneficial to engage with other business owners who are facing the same challenges and obstacles as you, and discussing how best to overcome these.”

The company has attended many of the Swansea Bay Partnership trade missions, including events in Belgium and Poland enabling the company to increase brand awareness across Europe and establish new contacts.

Steve Jones continued:

“Our aim is to cement Quantum CAD’s position as the most respected electronic and PCB design brand in the UK and to be the centre of excellence for electronic and PCB design to the electronics industry.

“Of course, to achieve this aim, we will continue to invest in our staff through continuous development and training to keep them and the organisation at the forefront of design technologies and trends.”

The company has expertise in all the major PCB design solutions on the market, Quantum CAD fulfils requirements for Rapid Prototyping, Design for Manufacture, Design for Test, WEEE, lead free, RoHS, EuP, HS and SI implications.
